Favorite Carnival Moments
I was born in Barranquilla and it might sound a little weird, but I do not like carnivals. Since the past five years I have been travelling for this time to avoid carnivals. Usually to Cartagena o Santa Marta and relax my self . By the way,  this is a homework and I have to choose a moment of the carnival. Remembering, when I was a child I used to go to this events and in that time I liked the Carnival. Well, my favorite carnival moment was the "Great parade of fantasy" that is done on monday. I really liked this event. When I was a child I used to be surprised for the magic of this event. People dressed up with unusual but striking costumes, like the death, garabato, etc. Dancing, making noise and I could see the happines in them doing that. That was really nice. The currently carnival is so different from the carnival I used to see, for that I do not like.

1. What do we learn about Tuareg culture from this video?
R/= Well, in the video we can appreciate a culture ver different from us. Let´s start for the costume the use. We can  see that have most of the body covered by that costume. We can see they like natural things. I mean, to interact with the nature. Also they like tea and write songs about what they feel and link that with the nature that they see.

 2. Keeping in mind what you learned from this interview, how does seeing the visuals within the video and knowing the meaning of the lyrics give us a deeper understanding of Tuareg culture?`
R/= Yes! In fact, most of the things that I know of the Tuareg culture were deduced after seeing the video and analizing deeply the song with the subtitles. Images, songs, things like that are good tools to understand a culture.

 1. Why was Barranquilla chosen?
R/= Barranquilla knew how to do the things in the right way. As we know, Barranquilla´s Carnival is the biggest cultural manifestation of the region.Celebration known all around the world. So, Barranquilla took advantage of that and started a process  with the International Bureau of culturals capital. When the president of that entity came here, was impressed with the city, with the cultural environment we can feel here, but what impressed the most were the positivism and the international proyection of the city. All these reasons, brought the recognition of 2013 cultural capital to Barranquilla.

2. Will Barranquilla receive any of the economic benefits Liverpool hoped to from being named a cultural capital?
R/= That depends of the product  that the media sell to the world. Probably, you are wondering ¿What do I want to mean with the previous statement. With media I wanna mean Tv, magazines, internet, newspaper, etc. With product I wanna mean, us, the people who live in Barranquilla, our culture, our traditions. As we know after reading the article, Barranquilla will have promotion through two internationals channels. That is decisive to receive any economic benefit. The things that the channel transmit about our city, will be seen by many people all around the world. If the things that the people see trough the program are interesting and different from what they are used to, their attention will be catched and they will come and enjoy the celebration. By the way, they are spending money and that contributes to the economy of the city. The more foreign people come to our city and spend money, the economy of the city will improve.
